Grievance Redressal Mechanism
A 24 hour help line at telephone no has been established at the State level. Complaints received are dealt with at the Head Office, District Office or Schools immediately. School Heads inform Head Office directly at telephone no if they get any problem regarding mid-day-meal. Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India

Issues observed by Review Mission
Delay in release of funds from State Finance Department. Non inclusion of green leafy vegetables in menu. Functionaries at grass root level unaware of MDM entitlement of children Convergence with Health Department needs to be further strengthened for distribution of IFA tablets, Vitamin-A dosage and de-worming tablets Displaying of MDM logo and entitlements Non display of Toll Free No. for Grievance Redressal. Observations by Monitoring Institution : Punjab University, Chandigarh for the period April to September, 2012 Districts covered : Amritsar, Faridkot, Ferozepur, Gurdaspur and Tarntaran The sampled schools received cooking cost for MDM after a delay of 2-3 months. Children were happy with both quality and quantity of meals. However, it was observed that in most of the schools ingredients like oil, salt, red pepper powder or turmeric powder used is not of standardized quality. Delay of 2-3 months in payment of honorarium to cook-cum-helpers. Roster for parents and community members for day-to-day supervision of the MDM was not prepared by any of the schools. Storage bin for storage of food grains were provided for all the visited schools. Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India
