Britain’s Colonial Policies
Colonists started to self-govern. When Britain began to strengthen their grip the colonists became upset. Taxation without representation.

Colonial Unity Albany Plan of Union- Each colony would send delegates annually to discuss issues. The Stamp Act- Created unity among most colonies. Boycotts were another tool the colonists used.

First/Second Continental Congress
1st Intolerable Acts led to the meeting. 1st Declaration of Rights 2nd Continental army was created. 2nd Also raised money to fight a war.

First State Constitutions
Assemblies created most State constitutions. Common features- Popular sovereignty, civil rights, checks and balances, separation of powers.
