Salt and Light

You are the salt of the earth
You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned…?

You are the light of the world
You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden.

Salt and Sun (light) on themselves are not good for very much and can be harmful.

Their value is realized only when they mix with other things.

us to join that same humility and generosity.
In calling us to become salt and light for the earth, Jesus asks us to join that same humility and generosity.

The followers of Jesus must have these 3 qualities: Salt, Light, City built on a hill.

Those who are the salt of the earth are those who bring out the goodness in us and everyone else.

Those who are the light for the world divert attention from themselves to illuminate the goodness of God to others.

the vocation (mission) of the disciples.
Through the images of salt and light Jesus expresses upon his listeners the vocation (mission) of the disciples.

Jesus says “I am the Salt and Light to the world so you, as my disciples must reflect me to the world.”
