2. Mineral fertiliser consumption by agriculture
Data:
I Tonnes of Nitrogen, , NUTS0
II Tonnes of Phosphorus, , NUTS0
III Tonnes of Nitrogen, 2012, NUTS2
IV Tonnes of Phosphorus, 2012, NUTS2
Reference period is calendar year; data collected for crop years (t-1/t) can be reported in calendar year t, no corrections are necessary to be made.
Provisional data by 1 May Final data by 1 December 2013.
If countries cannot provide data at national level, Eurostat will estimate data for these countries from other data sources, see document CPSA/649. Eurostat estimations will be presented to the countries for comments before publishing.

3. Notes 1 N mineral fertiliser consumption
Data on N at NUTS0 is available in all countries: UNFCCC.
UNFCCC  all mineral fertiliser consumption.
Eurostat  consumption agriculture.
Countries can therefore report different figure for only agriculture. However consistency should be ensured National discussion groups.

4. Notes 2 Mineral fertiliser consumption NUTS 2 (optional)
Ideally data collection at farm level. In short term, Eurostat does not expect countries to set up new data collection.
In meantime (2013-?) countries which do not have data available at NUTS2 level can apply several disaggregation procedures to derive a first rough estimate for NUTS2 level from data at NUTS0 level, to meet requirements of Commission.
Disaggregation procedures could include crop application rates based on crop requirements, expert judgement, modelling etc multiplied with data on land use.
