Matthew 6. 9-13 Matthew 6. 31-34 Proverbs 30. 7-9
Daily Bread Matthew Matthew Proverbs Last week Jo reminded us that before we come to the ‘asking’ side of prayer, this “pattern prayer”, that we call ‘The Lord’s Prayer’, reminds us that we need to know the person we’re approaching with our requests. There’s no point in asking if you know the person’s unwilling or unable to give! Fortunately, we know God is both willing and able, and the first two verses of this lesson in prayer make it very clear what God is like. Jesus gives his disciples – and us – every reason to pray, as he helps us picture the God we are praying to.

Our daily bread So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.

Daily Bread Give me neither poverty nor riches! Give me just enough to satisfy my needs. For if I grow rich, I may deny you and say, “Who is the Lord?” And if I am too poor, I may steal and insult God’s holy name. Proverbs
