ENTERING THE CLASSROOM
I expect all of my students to enter my classroom respectfully. All backpacks and belongings are to be placed ON or UNDER the table by the front door. Find your journal (more on this later), a seat and begin working on the journal entry (bell work). ASSIGNED SEATING: Don’t make me do it!!! If you need a seat up front, let me know. QUESTIONS?

MISSING MATERIALS ANY QUESTIONS?
Should you come to class without your required materials, you may borrow extra materials from a friend. I may have extra materials, but you MUST ask permission from me to borrow them. If you are having trouble purchasing materials, see me; I will get you what you need (even if it’s for a different class!). ANY QUESTIONS?
11
JOURNALS Expect to have a journal entry EVERY day.
If there isn’t an entry for a day or week, I will make and post an announcement. Keep track of your journals. You are responsible for ALL journal entries. You will not receive any credit if your journals are lost. If you miss school, make sure you make up all entries you missed; no one is excused from journal entries. Two ways to make-up journals: Use the Journal Binder I provide in my classroom. Ask a peer/friend. Visit my classwebsite (see syllabus and whiteboard) ANY QUESTIONS?

GROUP WORK Most of the class work and projects you will be completing will be in groups. Group work is designed to help you learn while participating and interacting with your peers. When I assign you group work, I expect you to assist each other with the assignment and work as a team. With every assignment and project, I will decide whether or not to design the groups myself or allow the class to choose their own groups. During the assignment or project, I will rotate from group to group offering my opinion and assistance. MOST IMPORTANTLY: I expect work to be distributed evenly amongst all of the group members and everyone to do their part as a team. If you have any concerns about a group member’s effort, please see me privately. ANY QUESTIONS?

Student Contract As Mrs. Paolini’s student, I thoroughly understand the rules and procedures she has has implemented in her classroom. She has answered all of my questions regarding the classroom rules and procedures. I also understand the consequences for violating these regulations. I understand that these rules and consequences are subject to change. I confirm that I have read the class syllabus in its entirety, and understand what it takes to pass this class. I agree to all terms set by Mrs. Paolini, and will abide by each and every one of these rules and procedures to the best of my ability. Above all, I will participate in activities on a daily basis, work well with my peers and do my best to succeed in this class. **Please sign the sheet of paper going around the room.

THEATRE CULTURE Theatre has been around CENTURIES LONANY TV show and movie, and most forms GER than of entertainment. There is a specific INHERITANCE within the WORLDWIDE Theatre community. In our Theatre culture, there are things WE DO and things WE DON’T: We DON’T disrespect those involved in our program as well as those not involved in our program. We DON’T misuse, damage or handle without permission items belonging to our program. We DON’T interrupt performances or presentations. We DON’T discourage anyone from being a member of this family.
18
THEATRE CULTURE In our Theatre culture, there are things WE DO:
We DO demonstrate proper theatre etiquette, and teach those who are not as informed. We DO encourage each other, our successes and our mistakes. We DO take risks and venture outside our comfort zone, but also support each other along the way. We DO accept and give constructive criticism with poise and gratitude. We DO demonstrate love and acceptance to EVERYONE, no matter our differences. We DO treat each other like family.
19
OUR THEATRE FAMILY Just like athletics or any other club, we have formed a beautiful theatre family here at MHS. I want to welcome you to our family’s home. You are LOVED; this room is a place of peace and comfort. You are FREE to be yourself without ANY judgment.
