1 Bell Task – to be completed on a sheet of A3 paper
Inheritance Character Opportunities Actions Sketch of Henry

2 Part 1 – Unit 2 Henry VIII, Henry VIII: character and aims; addressing Henry VII’s legacy Government: Crown and Parliament, ministers, domestic policies including the establishment of Royal Supremacy Relationships with Scotland and other foreign powers; securing the succession Society: elites and commoners; regional issues and the social impact of religious upheaval; rebellion Economic development: trade, exploration, prosperity and depression Religion: renaissance ideas; reform of the Church; continuity and change by 1547 Don't forget the key questions from the syllabus.

3 Timing I want to aim to complete the first 3 bullet points by half term, and the whole unit by Easter (ambitious, and we may run over) 1st half term = 6 weeks (includes an exam week + a “reading day) 2nd half-term = 5 weeks This allows 12 or 13 lessons per half-term This equates to approx. 4 lessons per bullet point (although some will require more and some less)

4 Look at SHP p 85 Does this image of Henry equate to yours?
But the danger is we rely on hindsight – a less familiar image is to be found in Tillbrook p63 Annotate the John Guy extract to demonstrate contextual knowledge and understanding of it’s content. Now add to your A3 sheet

5 Continue to work through p 64 – 66 and finish the A3 summary which now gives an introduction to the reign of Henry VIII You will build upon the legacy of Henry VII and Henry VIII’s accession on the Reading Day – info to follow.
