5 At Break Leave the classroom calmly and quietly when dismissed by your teacher. Move quietly and calmly to the yard. If you need to use the toilet, use this on the way outside. Food will only be served in Chequers. Do not bring food outside Chequers. You are not allowed on the corridors, everyone is outside in the yard. You will not be allowed back inside.

Do not congregate anywhere else e.g. by Science/Technology building or wait in corridors. Do not eat/drink in the corridors. Do not bring food out of the dining hall or Chequers.

7 Castle Hall Academy At Castle Hall Academy we expect our students to have positive learning habits that demonstrate our values of ‘Heart and Minds’

8 Heart Be Kind: Students who are kind and courteous help others to achieve in their learning. Students will be expected to share equipment and resources. They will make the academy a peaceful and harmonious place to work. All students are expected to keep their hands and feet to themselves and to use kind words. Be Polite: Students will show manners at all time around the academy. Students will open doors for others and say please and thank you. Students will walk calmly around the academy and use the litter bins provided. Be Respectful: Students who are respectful succeed in the wider world. Students must respect all teachers and follow their instructions first time. There is no answering back at Castle Hall Academy.

9 Mind 100%: Students who are successful work hard. Students are always expected to give 100% all day, every day. Students will be expected to listen carefully to their teacher and not distract others. Students will be taught about resilience and about never giving up. All students are expected to join in and contribute. No Opt Out: Students should always be ready in class with an answer. We expect every student to be on task during lessons and contribute when needed.

12 Achievement Points Your tutor, HOY and teachers can add these to your record at any time they feel you need recognition for an achievement in the areas of: Respect, Resilience, Responsible, Reasoning, Reflection, Academic achievement, Excellent, Effort or outstanding work. Your teacher can add the same points and comments for the whole class, groups or individuals.

14 What do we expect in lessons?
All students will follow the same routines for entering the classroom: Students will line up quietly outside their classroom. The teacher will greet the students at the door. All students to take their allocated seat and put their basic equipment, books, folders and planner on their desk. Students to sit down and complete the activity set by your teacher.

15 During break and lunchtime all students can:
Drink some water and having something to eat. Go to the lavatory. Meet with any member of staff to address any concerns. Socialise with friends in a calm and appropriate manner Line up quietly if waiting in a lunch queue Say thank you to catering personnel. Clear away your own, plate and cutlery and maintain an orderly environment at all times. Follow all school rules to maintain a calm and pleasant environment for all. Do not gather in large groups Keep hands and feet to themselves at all times Do not sit on the floor indoors- sit in allocated seating areas if you wish to remain indoors.

18 Behaviour within the Academy: Corridors
Wear full uniform correctly Show respect towards others by not shouting and by not eating, drinking or chewing Show respect towards the safety of others by not running Use calm conversational tones when addressing others. Be mindful of younger students around the Academy, staff and visitors. Hold doors open for others. Ensure you continue walking to your lessons quickly Do not congregate to speak to friends

19 Planners and Equipment
It is your responsibility to ensure you are recording homework in your planners daily. It is also your responsibility to ensure you get this completed on time. You must arrive to all lessons with your basic equipment. Your form tutors and HOY will check this weekly.

20 Uniform and Appearance
The Castle Hall maintains a strict uniform code and we expect a high standard of personal appearance. We are proud of the high standard set by our pupils, something which is often praised by visitors to the school. Our uniform helps to promote a serious working ethos and a sense of pride in the school. Our policy is based upon standards which would be generally acceptable within an office environment. 21 Perfect uniform This is what your uniform should look
like at ALL times.

22 Make Up and Jewellery Make up must be subtle and natural. This means is should not be clearly noticeable. Jewellery is not allowed except for a single watch and small stud earrings False nails and eyelashes are not permitted.

23 Mobile Phones and Accessories
Incident Sanction Duration When Mobile phone or accessories visible anywhere on the Academy site INSIDE or OUTSIDE. Confiscation of items and handed to your HOY. Parents to collect from HOY. Same day. Dependant on handing phone over without argument Repeat offenders within the same term will have their phones confiscated for 24 hours or more.

24 At Castle Hall Academy we expect our students to have positive learning habits that demonstrate our values. If this does not happen the school sanctions policy will be followed.
