Our Objectives Describe how to determine the client’s needs and desires. Explain the purpose of a site analysis plan. Identify the purpose of a base plan. Describe the components of a site analysis plan.

How does a designer determine what a client needs and desire for their yard?
1st step- meet with family and complete a Family Inventory Survey and ask questions like the ones below: Family information ex: number of people and ages Hobbies Pets Types of gardens they want How do they use the space Any favorite plants or plants to avoid

What is the purpose of a site analysis plan?
Before changing a site the landscaper must determine what is already existing at the site Site Analysis plan- a sketch of the home, property lines, and observations about the stie

What is a base plan? Base plan includes:
Scaled drawing of the home (locations of windows, doors, etc. Property line Utility lines and easements Hardscapes- things like sidewalks, walkways, etc.

What are the components of a Site Analysis Plan?
Record of observations done before designing or working on the site Includes: Vegetation Soil Microclimate Macroclimate views
