Spacious landscapes, autumnal colours, celebrates the beauty of the countryside Restless moving sky suggesting the weather is about to change Wild gushing river reminds us of the destructive power of nature Grandeur and drama of his works depicts both the flat holland plains and the wild landscapes of germany Large dramatic skys became increasingly important to Dutch landscape painters as to add balance to the composition and to add a sense of air and space into the scene.
