FDR’S PLAN FOR REFORM KEYNESIAN ECONOMICS:
KEYNESIAN ECONOMICS: Keynesian or "pump priming" economics. It held that money should be invested in the people, the working class. Deficit Spending,Deficit spending is when purchases exceed income. RELIEF PROGRAMS Continued:
Civilian Conservation Corps: Public Work Program employed young men to contribute to the conservation of the nations natural resources Those working for the CCC were paid a dollar a day, with $25.00 per month sent home to their dependents, alleviating poverty at home. RECOVERY:Creating jobs and helping businesses grow by restarting the flow of consumer demand
Example of Recovery program: National Recovery Administration: Purpose was to address the crisis in industry by suspending the antitrust law and allowed the government business, and labor to work together

Recovery programs Continued:
Agricultural Adjustment Act: Purpose of the legislation was to provide relief for farmers and other agricultural workers during the Great Depression. Over 6 million hogs and sows were slaughtered in the AAA's effort to raise prices, at a cost of over $30,000,000.

REFORM: Of the financial system to ease the economic crisis and introducing permanent programs to avoid another depression and insuring against future economic disasters Tennessee Valley Authority:The purpose of the TVA to address a wide range of economic, environmental and technological issues, including the management of natural resources and the delivery of low-cost electricity Each dam building project employed up to 40,000 workers

Reform Programs Continued:
FDIC:The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) insured depositors against the loss if their bank should collapse. No depositor has ever lost a cent of insured deposits since the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) was created in 1933.

Controversy Strikes FDR
Court Packing Controversy The Supreme Court had declared the National Industrial Recovery Act and the Agricultural Adjustment Act unconstitutional The purpose of court-packing plan was allegedly to increase the Court’s efficiency FDR wanted to use the plan to appoint justices who would not block his administration’s New Deal programs.

Second NEW DEAL After having fixed most of the problems throughout the New Deal I am working towards a new plan, the Second New Deal, which is aimed to solve all of the remaining problems that will affect Americans in the long term

WORKS PROGRESS ADMINISTRATION (WPA)- COMBATTED UNEMPLOYMENT BY PROVIDING LIGHT CONSTRUCTION JOBS The result of the WPA was to provide employment for 25% of the population, between 1935 and 1939 The WPA was the nation's biggest employer.

SOCIAL SECURITY ACT: National pension fund for unemployment, public assistance program for dependent mothers and disabled people and monthly retirement benefit people could collect at 65. First person to receive monthly retirement benefits got it January 31, 1940,for the amount of $22.54
