Percent Yield

Percent Yield = 𝑨𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒍 𝒀𝒊𝒆𝒍𝒅 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝒀𝒊𝒆𝒍𝒅 X 100
A comparison of the amount of a product you can actually make, versus how much product that your stoichiometry calculations predicted you’d make. To find percent yield of a reaction, use the following equation: Percent Yield = 𝑨𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒍 𝒀𝒊𝒆𝒍𝒅 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝒀𝒊𝒆𝒍𝒅 X 100

Example If your stoichiometry calculation predicted you’d make grams of a compound and you actually made 58.0 grams of that compound, what is your percent yield?

Example When 36.8 grams of C6H6 react with an excess of Cl2, the actual yield is grams of C6H5Cl. What is the percent yield of C5H5Cl? C6H Cl2  C6H5Cl HCl [Balanced]
