Entering Absences Where do I go to request an absence request?
Click on Time and Absence section in My UW System and click on Enter Absence.

Entering Absences Entry Instructions for a Multiple Day Request
Start Date: Click on the calendar and select the first day of needed time off. Absence Name: Click on the arrow and select the type of leave. End Date: Click on the calendar and select the last day of needed time off. Please do NOT span over normal days off or Legal Holidays. For example if working Mondays – Fridays, do not place a request for Wednesday – Wednesday. Make one request for Wednesday- Friday and one request for Monday-Wednesday of the next week. 1 3 2

Entering Absences Hours Per Day: Enter number of hours requesting off per day. Please be aware that this really means Per Day not Total for that timeframe. Guide for 100% appointment: Less than 2 hours = No need to report absence 2 hours up to 6 hours = Report 4 hours 6 to 8 hours = Report 8 hours Less than 100% appointment: Enter absence requests off in 0.25 increments. Example: 1 hour and 45 minutes off equals 1.75 4

Entering Absences Click on the Duration button. Verify that the total amount of time off is correct. Click on Submit Verify that there is a sufficient amount of hours to use. Check earnings statement for balances. Note: The multiple day requests can only be used if using the same leave type and the same amount of hours per day. Otherwise, different requests will be needed. 5 6
