Discuss Questions 1 & 2 on page 149-50
Chapter Questions Discuss Questions 1 & 2 on page What are some ways people try to break sin’s power without faith and the Spirit of God? What is it about faith that makes it such a powerful weapon against the flesh? ** Willpower. Prescriptions. Classes. Routines. Guilt. Self-help. Counseling. Others doing it for them. Blame shifting. Faith is so powerful because it lies outside of the person who has the problem. It is anchored to the one person who does not have any problems, and actually made the solution possible to get out of them. 2. Suppose someone you love is depending on you for help. How does that motivate you? Or suppose the same person needs your help, but refuses to depend on you, even doubts that you’re willing to help. How does that motivate you? Now apply that to Jesus. How does your expectation of help from him move him to help you? If my kid was depending on me, it makes me not forget and really want to try my hardest. And if and when he is skeptical of me, it makes me want all the more to dispel his doubts. 25 Minutes

Ephesians 3:14-21 ! ? 25 Minutes ! Paul’s prayer points
*V16 – strengthened in their inner spirit (by way of the spirit) *V17 – prayer that Christ may dwell in their hearts through faith (thought faith we have the spirit – we have God in us, with us) *v17b-18 – prayer that they are grounded and fixed in Christ’s love *v19 – prayer that they may be filled with all the fullness of God – the end result is that as we know his love, we are filled with him. Doxology v20-high, high superlatives for what God can do.. Stacked language ‘infinitely more than…’ ? V15 – huh? – every family, is under his dominion (named). He made it all. (it’s a play in words off of father in v14) V16 – riches of his glory? – the awesome power of all of his attributes (not any one singled out at the expense of another) V18 – all the saints? – even the saints in heaven do not fully get the vast scope of God’s love V14 – have purpose in prayer V16 – what’s the power to be strengthened in your inner spirit – it’s the riches of his glory! (power that is received from the H.S.) V20 – pray with an aggressive expectation V21 – savor and strive to enjoy and produce the praise of his glory (his honor, his power, his greatness) 25 Minutes
