1. Kindernews Mrs. Walk – August 21-25 Math Peek-at-the-Week Author Study
This week in math we will begin by letting the students free explore with our math manipulatives to get them used to all the various math tools we have in our classroom. We will talk about expectations when exploring with our manipulatives. We will also start our first unit on shapes. They will learn the circle this week.
Our first two days of school went great! The children have adjusted wonderfully and I am really looking forward to the rest of this year!
Each month we will be doing an author study. We will read books about authors and celebrate their various crafts. Below is our author this month. Many of Bill Martin’s books focus on ABC’s, 123’s, and colors, which are concepts we try to master at the beginning of the year.
This week in science we will start the week by learning about the solar eclipse. The kiddos are really excited about this event. We are taking every precaution to ensure your child is safe during this experience! We will talk
about the solar system and what
causes a solar eclipse. We will also
be learning about the 5 senses! We
will use our senses to explore a
coconut. We will also label the
parts of our body and use those
senses.
Author Study
This week we will begin an author study. We will learn about Bill Martin Jr. and some of the wonderful books he
has written. Some books
this week we will read are Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and Chicka Chicka 123.
