A note from the teachers…
Homework and Newsletter January 8th-January 12th A note from the teachers… Happy New Year! We are glad to be back with some new friends and exciting new things to learn! This week we are focusing on reading and writing words with long vowel sounds for the letter y. You can encourage your child to look for y acting like a vowel when you are reading and also in text that you see around like signs, cereal boxes, directions for games! We are writing narratives about a small moment that happened over winter break and following the writing process to draft, add details, edit, publish, and share our stories with our classes. In Math, we are continuing our unit on place value. Place value is knowing the values of different digits and being able to recognize numbers as ones and tens. In order to keep our fluency skills growing, they should continue to practice their addition and subtraction facts to 20. The kids seem very excited to be back at school and I have loved the bajillion hugs they have been giving me As always, thank you for the wonderful opportunity to teach your child! Sincerely, Mrs. Watson. Upcoming Events: January 15th-Martin Luther King jr.
