Julianne Murdock Julianne transferred to Cartersville at the end of September. It is always tough to transfer to a new school, but especially so during your senior year. I was worried about her coming into my AP Econ class because she had missed the first unit and half of the second unit. Julianne has accepted the challenge of catching herself up in my class and has not missed a beat. She is an active participant in class and is always willing to help those around her. She has truly embraced her move to Cartersville and I am proud that she will one day represent us as a graduate of Cartersville High School.

Ethan Cox Ethan has shown continual improvement throughout the first semester this school year. Ethan was initially very reserved in class. Over time he has become more and more outgoing with his peers in class. During this time, Ethan's grades in each of his classes have also improved after a slow start. For these reasons Ethan is chosen as my Champion for the month of November.

Mr. John Gridley

Isaiah Waddell Isaiah has been working so hard. His average has steadily climbed throughout the semester. He is always focused on the task at hand. He works many hours outside of class on activities and projects. He is a talented artist and his projects are always top notch. I am so proud of him.

Lauren Bruce I have the joy of seeing Lauren twice a day, and perhaps this explains why I I appreciate her so much. Her quirky personality is accompanied by a dry wit and stellar sense of humor. She is motivated as a student and is both tolerant and encouraging of others unlike herself. This combination of traits make Lauren my champion!

Jacob Busek I have had the privilege of knowing Jacob since his freshmen year when he entered my class for American Government. What a freshmen year it was, too! While some parts of that year were a bit of a struggle, Jacob persevered and went on to a wonderfully stellar sophomore year! When I heard that I would have him in my class again I was quite happy. However, I thought to myself, "Does he really want to subject himself to another year with me and the dreaded notebook?" I am so glad he made the decision to go this route! In my many years of teaching I have seen few with the work ethic possessed by Jacob. He is always searching for ways to improve himself. He is always working to stay ahead of the game. I love his motivation and intrinsic desire to succeed. But what I love most is his kind soul. Thank you, Jacob, for being a bright spot to my day!

Allison Mosher Allison is a joy to teach. She is a model student in the high school classroom both from the perspective of grades and of how a young lady should carry herself. You can tell just by looking that, more times than not, she is genuinely interested in historical content. She understands that the success she will have is directly proportional to the amount of effort that is put into her attentiveness, her behavior and her work. It is an honor to teach Allison and it is an honor to present her with this selection.

Shavondre Pennymon I nominate Shavondre Pennymon for his positive attitude and overall growth. Dre has matured, considerably, over the last three years and it has been a pleasure working with him. He has developed as a student by improving his work ethic in his Social Studies classes as well as his level of responsibility as a young man. He is willing to spend extra time with his teachers during study hall and FAB sessions to improve his grades and has become more conscientious about doing what it takes to be successful. Dre has always had a fun, outgoing, personality that makes him a joy to be around. He also has a big heart as he demonstrates this on a regular basis by being willing to help out when needed and is usually the first to volunteer. I am very proud of Dre and who he has become.

Samuel Bernal ceto Samuel is currently an English Language Learner student but he never uses it as an excuse. Samuel could easily be overwhelmed by the fact that he is learning a new subject in a language that he does not fully understand but he doesn't complain, he asks for help when needs it and he always completes his work. Samuel inspires me because he just "keeps on keeping on" and doesn't let his circumstance become an excuse.

Mr. Kyle Tucker

Kyndel smith Kyndel is an excellent young lady with a tremendous work ethic and takes her studies very seriously. She has a great attitude and makes our classroom a better place each day. CHS is lucky to have Kyndel Smith as a student!

Mrs. Emily Walker

Kayla Stephenson Kayla is often overlooked because she is soft-spoken and unassuming. Kayla currently has a 99 in my AP Psychology class-this is no small feat! She keeps her head down and works diligently day in and day out. She never misses an opportunity to correct her mistakes. She does not settle for less than her best. It has been a joy to have Kayla in my class for a second year.
