This is Burris Ewell’s third time for the first day of first grade He is filthy and has lice He is told to go home and wash his hair with keorsine He almost gets into a fight with Little Chuck Little He insults the teacher

Reaching a Compromise Scout does not want to go back to school
She is upset because she can’t read at home anymore Atticus and Scout reach a compromise They will read at home and not tell the teacher

Atticus believes that the key to understanding the situation, a person must put himself in the other person’s place He must stand in the other persons’ skin and walk around in it Makes Scout look at the situation from Miss Caroline’s perspective

A Note for Boo Jem and Dill decide to put a note on the shutter of the Radley House Note is asking Boo to come out Dill and Scout act as lookouts Atticus catches them Tells them to leave the Radleys alone
