A cause is why something happens An effect is what happens as a result of a cause Example: Situation: I wanted to go to the movies but my mother said no. Cause: I got angry and very rude with my mother. Effect: Not only did I not get to see the movie, I got grounded for 2 weeks.

5 Important Ideas Important ideas are essential ideas and supporting details in a nonfiction selection Important ideas include information and facts that provide clues to the author’s purpose

Examples of pronouns: he she, it, you, they, we, her, him, who, whom, them Using noun: Chelsea set the book on Chelsea’s bed. Instead, use a pronoun: Chelsea set the book on her bed.
