3. Elements of Style
Diction
Simply put, diction refers to the WORD CHIOCE an author makes
Connotation(an idea or feeling that word invokes in addition to its literal or primary meaning) and denotation (the literal or primary meaning of a word, in contrast to the feelings or ideas that the word suggests)
Mode of Lanuage
How words create a level of formality or specialization
For example, your mode for speaking to your parents is different from when you are presenting information to a group.
Syntax
The arrangement of words in sentences, clauses, and phrases.

4. Using words to make argument appeals
Logos- information and ideas that appeal to your sense of logic or reason
Pathos- information and ideas that appeal to your sense of emotion
Ethos- information and ideas that appeal to your morals, values, ethics, or conscience
