Can NOT be passed from one organism to another Caused by: Genetics (Down Syndrome, Cystic Fibrosis) Environment (skin cancer) Lifestyle (heart disease, diabetes, etc.)

What causes antibiotic resistance? You must use the following terms: Bacteria Antibiotics Mutations natural selection resistance

Example Antibiotics are used to fight bacterial infections. They are becoming less effective over time. If just one bacteria is resistant to the antibiotics or undergoes a mutation, then that bacterium will survive to reproduce. This is an example of natural selection because the bacteria that are most well adapted are the ones that will survive to reproduce.
