4 Why consider sustainability?
World decision makers face traditional issues (such as economic inactivity, poverty, hunger, and illness), as well as new challenges (like environmental damage and globalization).

5 Sustainability triangle
Environmental Economic Social Economic: Growth, stability, productivity Environmental: Resilience, natural resources, pollution, biodiversity Social: Relationships, local culture

6 Economics side of the triangle
The economy domain is leans towards improving human welfare, primarily through increases in the consumption of goods and services.

7 Environmental side of the triangle
The environmental domain focuses on protection of the integrity and resilience of ecological systems.

8 Social side of the triangle
The social domain focuses on the improvement of human relationships and achievement of individuals.
