1 Rational Resource Usage for a Sure Future – Final Project
iEarn Learning Circle: Global Issues, Environment Gobjila, Ludmila and students from the 7th form April 2018

2 Introduction We, pupils from the 7th form, found that many environmental issues exist throughout the world, many regarding the excess use of oil. With the help of our partners from the USA, we created this summary of proposed solutions for rational resource usage for a sure future.

3 Table of Contents Reducing Plastic Bag Usage Oil Conservation
Solar power Wind power Recycling

4 Reducing Plastic Bag Usage
We found that less than 1% of plastic bags are recycled and that most other plastic bags end up harming the environment, such as 8 million pounds of plastic bags altogether in the sea. We propose that all the people of the world use cloth bags instead of plastic bags. Check out the film our students made to demonstrate their efforts to reduce local plastic bag use: Avoiding this catastrophe saves lives, beginning with ourselves.

5 Oil Conservation Film about oil shortage problem (Past Peak Oil)
We realized that we can save oil by practicing sport instead of using means of transport. In such a way, people will be healthier and we will have oil for a longer period of time, so that the oil can be used in more important cases. Film about oil shortage problem (Past Peak Oil) Also watch our student-directed film reflecting the students’ ideas for saving the oil locally

6 Solar Power Our partners from the USA showed us that solar power is the cleanest and most available source of energy. This contribution is from Ian, Ethan, and Mac from the USA. We agree with them that… “We should use Solar Energy because Solar energy is the cleanest and the most abundant source of energy we have. Solar Energy is the cheaper and easy to install making Solar Energy very easy to get and use. Some examples of solar energy are putting solar tiles on the roofs of their homes. Another example of Solar Energy is using in to heat your water.” Interesting fact: Solar is the Latin word for sun.

7 Wind Energy Ian, Ethan and Mac found another method of saving natural resources: wind energy. And they’re right! We are proud of them! They say… “Wind is caused by the uneven heat in the atmosphere from the sun, making wind energy a type of solar energy. As we said before, Solar energy is the cleanest most abundant source of energy. Making Wind Energy just as effective as any other source. One example of Wind Energy are wind turbines as seen in the image above. “

8 Recycling Finally, Ian, Ethan and Mac proposed to us also recycling. It is an important method for saving natural resources that we all can practice throughout the world. Thanks for this contribution! “Recycling limits the amount of waste in the world and community. As well as this it saves the environment from waste, and pollution. Also it can create jobs for families who can’t find one. Examples: Compost bin Reusing glass and other projects All types and forms of papers”
