1 EXCITING OF ELECTRONS

2 Ground State - the state of electrons when they are occupying the lowest energy levels possible (being as lazy as possible)

3 Excited State - When electrons are given extra energy (like heat), they can occupy higher energy levels temporarily.

4 Exciting the Electrons
If we get electrons to leave the ground state and jump up energy levels, they will only stay there for a small amount of time.

5 As they “fall” back to their ground states, they release the extra energy in the form of light
That is why we see color in fireworks shows

6 Now let’s excite some electrons!!
