There is even a branch devoted to studying measurement in Psychology. Psychometrics- Study of measurement of our abilities, attitudes, and traits.

Basic Research Biological Psychologists- examines brain and nervous system in relation with behavior. Cognitive Psychologists- studies the mental processes. Educational Psychologists- conduct research and studies pertinent to education. Personality Psychologists- studies personality and its variations among individuals. Social Psychologists- asses people’s behavior when surrounded by groups.

Applied Research Industrial-Organizational Psychologists- scientific study of behavior in the workplace. Human Factors Psychologists- discovers and applies information about human behavior, abilities, limitations, and other characteristics to the design and evaluation of products, systems, jobs, tools, and environments for enhancing productive, safe, and comfortable human use. Counseling Psychologists- Counseling psychology is a type of applied psychology that can be used to help people gain control of their feelings. Clinical Psychologists- Clinical psychology is a broad branch of psychology that focuses on diagnosing and treating mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders Psychiatrists*- A psychiatrist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental health and emotional problems. *Medical Degree, can prescribe drugs.

5 Additional Tips Distribute Study Time-
Learn to Think Critically- what perspective or bias underlies the argument? In Class. Listen Actively-ask questions, listen for main/sub-ideas, be part of the discussions. Overlearn- Learning and memory go long into your future. Be a smart test taker- Read the essay first. Write a list of points you want to make. Then move onto the multiple choice; one of these questions may jog your memory for the essay. MC: Cover the answers and try to finish the sentence in your own words. Then uncover and select the answer closest to yours.
