4 Contribution Highlights
December 18 Fixed Mobile Convergence Alliance ( wng-fixed-mobile-convergence-alliance-fmca-overview.pdf) This presentation introduces the aims and objectives of the Fixed-Mobile Convergence Alliance (FMCA) Product Requirement Definitions for Wi-Fi SIP, Wi-Fi GAN (UMA) and Bluetooth CTP. FMCA Overview The Role of the FMCA What Must The FMCA Enable For Convergence? FMCA - Productising Convergence The FMCA Aims & Objectives – SDOs/Fora The FMCA Product Requirement Definitions (PRDs) GAN (UMA) & SIP - FMCA Positioning In Summary: SIP As Unifying Force Reasons for engaging with IEEE u, IEEE J. 5 Contribution Highlights
December 18 802.1am Management Plane ( wng-dot1am-work-sizing.xls wng-dot1am-management-plane.ppt wng-dot1am-management-par-5c.doc) As radio operation and regulation are expressed in terms of time, space, frequency, code and power, it is useful to look at those dimensions in the approved standards and the ones under development. The management dimension is missing from IEEE 802 J. Karaoguz, Broadcom Corp.

6 Contribution Highlights
December 18 Improving IEEE Performance with Cross-Layer Design and Multi-Packet Reception via Multiuser Iterative Decoding ( wng-csma-mpr-mud.ppt) Receivers today have the ability to decode more than one packets from multiple users. Such a physical layer can deliver significant improvements to network performances. Thus, the classical collision model is no longer realistic and a cross-layer approach should be employed when designing multiple access protocols. This is especially the case for CSMA communications, which previously have not been implemented with a multipacket reception (MPR) model. We propose applying recent information theoretic results in multiuser iterative decoding to help improve IEEE wireless LAN standards’ performances. Our method also preserves the underlying physical layer’s implementation. J. Karaoguz, Broadcom Corp.
