5 KidsCare is Affordable
Based on income: families can make $35,000 or more! $10/month to $70/month max for all children No copays If enrolled Tribal member, no premiums

6 Eligibility: Income is 138% - 200% FPL, but there are allowed deductions for income Under age 19 Resident of Arizona US citizen or appropriate non-citizen status – of child not parent Not incarcerated Not in an institution for mental disease (IMD) Many families with current health insurance can skip the waiting period Many applicants can skip the 90-day waiting period* Not eligible for the State employees health benefits plan *there are many cases where this waiting period does not apply – connect families to free assistance.

7 Talking with a Parent Call out the wide range of benefits that are covered by KidsCare, including check-ups and immunizations , “You can see a doctor when your child is sick.” Dental coverage is particularly compelling for parents. Income eligibility. Some parents think that they earn too much to qualify for assistance even though they may have trouble affording other coverage options.

8 Talking With a School Teachers and Administrators- a recent study found that kids who gained access to Medicaid and CHIP (AHCCCS and KidsCare) were more likely to finish high school and graduate from college than similar children who didn’t have access1. In addition, the comprehensive benefits covered by Medicaid and CHIP (AHCCCS and KidsCare) mean that common health issues that cause children to miss school or be inattentive in class, like vision problems and toothaches, can be addressed 1.

In 3 Easy Steps! 1:Inform 2:Connect: Eligibility: Under 19 years old Child is US citizen or qualified immigrant* Under Income limit: families can earn $35,000 or more Parents’ immigration status does not matter Find Free, Bilingual Help to Apply 3:Prepare Bring to appointment: SS Card for child, ID for child, residency (utility bill), proof of income, childcare expenses (if any) Help families make an in persons appointment with a trained bilingual assistor Zip code Premiums are as low as $10/month Never more than $70/month for all children No co-pays No deductibles Assistors can also help with AHCCCS or Marketplace applications

10 * Who is a “Qualified Non-Citizen”? • Specific list includes: – Lawful Permanent Residents (LPRs or green card holders) – Asylees and Refugees – Cuban/Haitian entrants – Parolees for more than 1 year – Battered non-citizens, spouses and children – Victims of trafficking – Veterans and active military, and their spouses and children • Note: Many of these groups are exempt from the 5 year waiting period Qualified Immigrants exempt from 5-year waiting period (e.g., Refugees, Asylees, Cuban/Haitian entrants, Trafficking Victims, Veteran families)
