Year 3 Autumn Term 1 Plan River Bank Primary School Year 3
In English, we’ll be : - learning about the author Roald Dahl and a selection of his texts. The work we will cover this term will also include non‐chronological reports. - we will identify key features of this text type and, with support, write their own stories. In Maths, we’ll be finding out: - addition and subtraction (mental and written) methods - word problems involving length and mass - how to read and write three digit numbers - demonstrating mental maths strategies In Science, we’ll be finding out: - observing forces - learning about magnets and their uses - making predictions and how to investigate these safely - exploring magnet and non-magnetic materials In Art and Technology, we’ll be finding out: - how to create a piece of rock art - design and making a round house - learning about the different arts and crafts from the stone age Year 3 Autumn Term 1 Plan In PSHE, we’ll be finding out: - to understand where is food is harvested. In RE we’ll be finding out about: - what do the religions teach about the natural world and why should we care about it? In Music, we’ll be: - learning how to play the recorder - singing and learning songs linked with our topic. In Topic, we’ll be finding out: - to gain an overview of the major changes from the stone age to the iron age - to consider how we know about historical period without written sources - to research what it might have been like to live in Britain during this period In Physical Education (PE), we’ll be : - learning a variety of ball games including netball and football. - demonstrating good control of the ball, rolling, bouncing, throwing and catching skills In French, we’ll be: - learning how to greet one another - learning how to answer simple questions about ourselves In Computing, we’ll be finding out: -how to communicate with people using technology -how to improve our key skills such as typing using both hands correctly.
