COPY IN YOUR SPIRAL PG 67 Objective: Students will identify between the types of newton's laws and devise how to manipulate objects with those forces Homework: Finish lab Juno Practice #2
2
What causes an object to move?
Warm up 10/7-8 What causes an object to move?
3
“You can not deny the laws of physics jim”
Newtons Laws “You can not deny the laws of physics jim”
4
Obecjts at Rest -Net force of 0 -Lack any movement -Do nothing
Draw an object at rest
5
Objects in motion -Are moving -Net force > 0 -Unbalanced force
Draw an example of an object in motion -Are moving -Net force > 0 -Unbalanced force -What might bring an object in motion to become at rest?
6
Objects and Inertia Object's resistance to change in motion or path of motion More mass = More inertia Draw 3 objects and list them in order of inertia least to greatest
8
Newton’s First Law An objects in motion will stay in motion while objects at rest will stay at rest. Unless acted on by an unbalanced force
9
Newton’s Second law An object's acceleration depends on the object's mass and force applied -Greater the mass, the more force it needs to accelerate. -Objects with less mass have an easier time accelerating
10
Newton’s Third law For every action there is a opposite and equal reaction When objects exert a force, the second object will exert the same amount of force back
