Nat Love wrote his autobiography in 1907 according to his account, he was born in davidson county Tennessee, in 1854. He was born a slave his owners name were Robert Love.

Nat Love’s autobiography tells that he once was wounded and captured by a tribe of Native Americans. They treated his wounds and gived him food. The tribes name for him buffalo papoose. They wanted to make him part of the tribe but Love didn’t want to change his way of life. He ran away and went back to being a cowboy.
