1 Vectors Vectors are a way to describe motion that is not in a straight line. All measurements can be put into two categories: Scalars = magnitude Vectors = magnitude and direction Ex: velocity = vector Acceleration = vector Speed = scalar Displacement = vector Distance = scalar

2 Vectors You can add vectors. The resultant vector represents the sum of two or more component vectors.

3 Properties of Vectors Vectors can be moved parallel to themselves in a diagram. Vectors can be added in any order. To subtract a vector, add its opposite.
