It is important that two issues are carefully addressed:
What are the key Foundation Skills which form the basis of the ACE course delivery?
What features of the named Foundation Skills form the basis of the ACE course delivery?
The tutor MUST be able to describe what competency looks like

What are the key Foundation Skills which form the basis of the ACE course delivery?
Each ACE course is designed to develop specific Foundation Skills. The unit of competency to which the course is aligned names these skills in the unit document under the heading “Foundation Skills.” Example below.
FSKLRG04 – Use basic strategies for work-related learning
Foundation Skills - This section describes language, literacy, numeracy and employment skills incorporated in the performance criteria that are required for competent performance.

Foundation Skills
This section describes language, literacy, numeracy and employment skills incorporated in the performance criteria that are required for competent performance.
In this example the ACSF Core Skills of Reading and Oral Communication are to be embedded and the Employability Skill of Planning and Organising.

The tutor MUST decide upon
the features that he/she
is seeking to evidence
competency in Reading.

Locates and reads information to support own work-related learning
The features upon which the tutor decides will align with the focus of the ACE course delivery.
For example competency in the performance feature named could be evidenced by a learner:
* Using an index *Identifying useful information sources
* Researching the internet * Comprehending text
* Highlighting significant text * Requiring minimal support from tutor
* Relating text to personal goals * Appling information to own context

What features of the named Foundation Skills form the basis of the ACE course delivery?

The above points are indicators /descriptors of competency and relate to the manner in which the course is designed to be delivered.
The indicators / descriptors will alter depending upon the course intent and are set by the tutor.
