Welcome to Kindergarten, Class of 2031! Thursday, August 9th 2018

BS Elementary Edu, MS Special Edu, EDS Edu Administration, Special Edu Director Endorsement Grew up in Sorento, Illinois. Currently live in Midway with my husband, Jarrod, and my two daughters, Alissa and Taylor. Before getting into education, I worked for the Illinois State Police. Education Work Experience: 1 yr reading asst., 2 yrs. special edu. resource teacher, & 3 yrs. instructional special edu. teacher for the moderate to severe disabilities classes at TMS & CM What I am most excited about: Getting to know all of the people who make BE great..staff, students, families, community members Joining the BE family and getting to work with such a passionate, caring, and dedicated staff Getting to be the first stop on your child’s journey in education My family

Doors open 7:50am Breakfast 7:50-8:15am Class 8:20-10:00am Recess 10:00-10:15am Class 10:15-11:15am Lunch/Recess 11:15-12:00pm Class/P.E./Music 12:00-2:30pm Dismissal 2:35pm Our first day of school is Wednesday, August 15th! 4 The first day of school... Wednesday, August 15th
Parents, you are welcome to walk your kindergartener into the school and gym on the first day of school. Once in the gym, kindergarteners will line up with his/her class. When the bell rings, teachers will escort students to class. If you would like to walk your child to the classroom, please complete and submit the volunteer form tonight. You can turn those in to the office or to me. The first day of school... Wednesday, August 15th After day one, if you would like to enter into the building, we welcome you to check-in through the office! We always have volunteers opportunities available if you are interested.

5 Kindergarten Learning Expectations
Identify numbers 0-20 and write numbers 1-20 Count to 100 Identify all upper and lower case letters Produce 31 letter sounds Read 44 sight words Write a complete sentence Solve basic addition and subtraction problems Recognize 5 basic shapes & use scissors Color in the lines and hold a pencil using proper mechanics Write first and last name beginning with a capital letter Fasten clothing and coats independently Open food packages, backpacks, and lunchboxes independently Use restroom and wash hands independently Tie shoelaces

6 Health Information Required for all incoming kindergarteners:
School physical & up-to-date immunizations due by September 17, 2018 Vision exam due by October 15, 2018 Dental exam due by May 15, 2019 Medications: If your child requires medications during school hours, including over the counter, a “school medication authorization” form must be signed by a physician and on file. Forms can be found on the district website or by request. Nurse Sherri is in the office to assist you and answer any questions. Health Information

7 School Breakfast & Lunch Program
Meal Money Options: Register for an account using your student’s name and student ID number, track purchases, and pay online. Send cash/check with your child in a sealed envelope labeled with “lunch money” and his/her name. The free/reduced meal application is available on the district website and by request. Breakfast $1.35 Lunch $2.40 Milk $0.50

8 Staff Parking Parking is limited at BE. In order to ensure space for all of our staff, we ask that you do not park in the lot off of Mill Street on the side of the building. Thank you for your understanding.

9 Drop-off and Pick-up (Buses)
Buses pick-up and drop-off students at the circle drive off of Albers Place in front of BE. Please be patient with us, BUSES WILL BE LATE THE FIRST FEW DAYS. , For your child’s safety, Albers Street and the BE front circle drive are for buses only during am drop-off and pm pick-up times. No parking on Albers.

10 BUS STOP INFORMATION A parent, guardian, older sibling, or sitter must be present at the bus stop. If you have questions about this, please call the office at (618)

11 Drop-off and Pick-up (Parent pick-up)

12 Signing Out Early Go through the office to see our BE secretaries, Ms. Val or Ms. Shannon, to sign your child out early. Be sure to bring your state-approved photo ID inside with you. Your ID is required when signing out students during the school day.
