2. Single Carnation Flower Leis
Supplies needed:
Lei needle
25 carnation blooms
Strong tooth floss or sturdy thread or string
Clippers

3. Making the Lei
Cut a long piece of floss about 2 yards, lengths can vary in size
Thread floss through the lei needle so that the floss is doubled
Peirce carnations through the bottom of the bloom in the center and push down the needle
After each bloom add a 1” length of a drinking straw

4. Making the Lei
Continue adding bloom with a straw in between each bloom and pushing down the needle and on to the string
The straws help space the carnations apart allowing you to use less blooms

5. Finishing the Lei
Thread all 25 blooms and finish by tying the ends together
Make sure the knot is secure before cutting the excess string off
