2 Before you read Salesjerk, by Seth Stevenson on page 183, please click on the link below and watch the Shamwow commercial. Afterward, read the aforementioned selection paying close attention to the annotations. This will help you organize your paper.

3 Get going on your rhetorical analysis
Find a text you want to analyze Pick something you find intriguing. Persuasive? Not persuasive? Historical? Highlight the uses of Logos, Ethos, and Pathos Read and annotate Identify the author’s uses of reasoning, credibility , or emotion Research the context Find out as much as you can about he author and the historical context in which he or she created the text Use interviews or surveys to measure how others react to the text you are studying Interview experts who know about this kind of text

Read the selection on pages Answer the questions on page 188 in the “A Closer Look” section #s 1, 2, and 3. This will serve as a model for your development of your rhetorical analysis In other words, the questions are asking you to analyze the selection.

6 What’s a Girl to Read? Read the next selection found on pages 189-191.
Answer questions 1, 2, and 3 in the “A Closer Look” section on page 191. This example is an analysis. You can use this as a model for yours.
