Using Scientific words
Um….and stuff

In science classes… It is often (and by that I mean ALL THE TIME!!) a good idea to use “scientific” words when answering questions in class and in lab What do we mean by “scientific” words??

What do you notice? What is different about Gustav as a hurricane?
In other words, how is it different from a tropical storm? Write down something!

What do you notice? Write something else down (try to make it scientific!!

What am I trying to get at?
USE SCIENTIFIC WORDS!! Don’t say “it’s bigger”….say “It has increased in size” Don’t say “it shrank” or “it’s smaller now”…say “It has decreased in size” Don’t say “It got more hot, yo”…say “The temperature has increased” Don’t say “It’s mad colder”….say “The temperature has decreased because the molecules within the substance have decreased their movement substantially…” OK…maybe not…but try your best this year!

The process of drawing a conclusion from given evidence
