IT is like this because the southern colonies still followed the church of england for religion, where in the new england colonies they were puritans, and middle multiple religions, also large landowners dominated the society, which means theuy were rich in england as well. By contrast, French exploration of Canada did not lead to large-scale immigration from France, and relations with native peoples were generally more cooperative.
