2. Assignment Separate students into groups.
As a group, spend a few minutes studying and discussing the details of your picture.
Each member should now write his/her own 5 sentence paragraph (minimum, may be longer) describing the picture. Be sure to focus on how things look, feel, smell, sound, etc.

3. A Group Effort As a group, read through all of the descriptions.
Choose the best descriptive words and phrases from each person’s paragraph and combine them to make one comprehensive, excellent paragraph.
Share your group paragraph with the class.

4. For Example . . .
The fiery sun slowly melted into the black horizon, leaving a blood-red sky in its wake. Creeping up from the dark abyss, the silhouette fingers of the marula trees grasped to hold onto the disappearing light of day. A breeze, dry and heavy, rustled their sparse leaves, bringing them to life. The cackle of a hyena somewhere in the distance cut through the ominous stillness. As the evening sky lay dying, the African wild came alive.
