Letter criticized President McKinley for being “weak”
USS Maine Explodes
President McKinley orders the Battleship Maine to Cuba
On February 15, 1898 the Maine explodes in Havana Harbor

14. The War Commodore Dewey defeats the Spanish fleet in the Philippines
The US invades Cuba with 17,000 men. Including the Rough Riders and African American regular army troops
