Parent/Carer Survey Results 2018 - Key Comments
9. ‘The school supports me to contribute to, and understand, my child’s learning.’ Overwhelmingly positive comments about Maths communication across all levels - queries about other faculties adopting this model. Monthly/termly newsletters across subjects? Regular letters/communication from subjects regarding topics studied and books/texts to be read at home. Better access needed for understanding course outline and topics to support learning at home. More frequent feedback on progress and regular updates required. Timetable of assessments for each subject would be beneficial. NEXT STEPS: Monthly learning and teaching newsletters or updates via from departments More consistency across subject information on the website regarding topics studies and course outlines Overall assessment calendar for SQA pupils

Parent/Carer Survey Results 2018 - Key Comments
9. ‘The school supports me to contribute to, and understand, my child’s learning.’ More opportunities to meet teachers and speak to them about progress/5 minutes not long enough once a year to discuss progress. More information on homework, homework deadlines and what is required in each subject. More access to online learning platforms. Parent workshops or lectures would be useful. Reports not detailed enough – lots of ‘cutting and pasting’.
30
Parent/Carer Results IT refresh and new ‘classroom in a box’ laptops. The majority of parents/carers agree that the school has the resources it requires to deliver a high quality education to its pupils.

Next Steps… Data collected from these surveys has helped inform the whole school evaluation of 2.3 Learning, Teaching and Assessment report to C.E.C. in March 2018. Analysis of these results will inform the following areas of improvement which will appear as targets for the School Improvement Plan: Improvements in family partnerships and learning Improvements in communication, using the model that Maths have adopted Regular Learning and Teaching newsletters to update parents/carers on ongoing work and important information from subject areas, and to celebrate successes. Focus on improving learner dialogue and learner conversations in class. Moving to a model of fewer reports and increased opportunities for parents/carers to meet with teachers throughout the year. Family partnerships and communication is an area identified for improvement for the next three years. Maths have already presented their model at SLT and this will be shared with all subject areas. Move to share good practice and information, and celebrate success through the implementation of regular T & L newsletters. T & L Group have ‘piloted’ a learner dialogue model, and this will be explored in greater detail. ‘Pilot’ of two S1 parents evening next year – move to extend this to other year groups after evaluation.
