This week we focus down on impacting the world - this is what you and I are made for…
Over the past couple of weeks we have considered how we must relate form generation to generation…including the 6 generations in this church. Last week we considered intentionally building relationships across cultures… and God has place this church in an amazingly diverse culture.

We are made for relationship with God, others and ourselves.
God desires a relationship with all
Sin separates us the life for which we were created
Here is a very real truth… our relationships with others have eternal implications! That means we must understand how important our encounters with others are.
Here are three key points…

How do we help those far from God move closer to the line of faith?
How can we influence lives that change the world?
Here are two questions that drive my life…

Bill Walsh died this past week. Hold up newspaper with his picture. I’m a 49er fan and really appreciated his coaching skills. But what really impressed me is this (hold up the second page of influence). Bill Walsh’s legacy isn’t only about the thrill of watching the Niners…it’s about the many, many coaches that he help influence and shape!
This is a model of what I’d like my life to look like but with the Kingdom in place of football!

7. The we have the joy of watching our “Kingdom Values” spread beyond our sphere of influence. This is how: faith in Christ is spread, church communities build and the world transformed! Does this appeal to you? Would you like to be a person of influence?

This is a model I saw back in the early 70’s. I guess that really dates me. It appeared in the old magazine “Faith At Work” and I believe was written by Bruce Larsen - a pioneer in Christian Community.
What we all have in common is our common human needs… What are some that come to you mind? We are also connected through our humanity. What come to your mind when you this like this?
After that we experience separation from one another. It’s no wonder Jesus gave us the “one another's”. What are some that come to your mind.

Let me walk with you through these towers of separation. Each is not bad but simply move us apart fro others. Briefly walk through each area…have fun!!!
Note that we have a tendency to relate across to the same level. It’s no wonder our society is fractured and segregated at so many levels.

Worse yet we have a proclivity to look up - pedestal others or think others are less than ourselves because of our differences.

13. A great way to “just walk across the room”
Tuesday - August 7
National Night Out 
Here’s a great way to build relationships across the street. Last year three of our families participated in this night out…
They made a simple flyer and passed it out to their neighbors. Two had potluck BBQ’s and another had watermelon. Each family was shocked at the response… 14 neighbors, 22 neighbors and 36 neighbors. What was amazing is that they all meet people they didn’t know.
How about you… will you step up and take the challenge?
