Topic/Objective: Students will analyze the rhetorical strategies Patrick Henry used in his “Speech in the Virginia Convention” (1775) to incite listeners to action against Britain.

Classwork Friday, November 4, 2016:
Read Handout to prepare for speech analysis. Listen to the speech in its entirety for overall gist. Model analysis of first paragraph of the speech along with the audio/text. Choose a partner and begin to work on the remainder of the speech. I will inform you and your partner about which paragraph you will present to the class at a later time. You should complete the entire analysis because it will assure comprehension of the author’s message and his use of rhetorical devices. You should be ready to present on Monday!
