2. Regensburg is a city in the southeast of Germany, located at the confluence of the Danube, Naab and Rege river. With more than 140,000 inhabitants, Regensburg is the fourth largest city in the state of Bavaria after Munich, Nuremberg and Augsburg. The city is the political, economic and cultural center of eastern Bavaria and the capital of the Upper Palatinate administrative region Bavaria.
The medieval center of the city is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Site and a testament to the condition of the city as a cultural center of southern Germany in the Middle Ages. In 2014, Regensburg was one of the main attractions and travel attractions in Germany. Generally known in English as Regensburg until well into the twentieth century, the city is known as Regensburg in French and as Regensburg in Spanish and Italian.
