2 Whenever you describe something by comparing it to something else, you’re using figurative language.
means You’re a weasel! You’re sneaky or a liar

3 In figurative language, we use words in a very different way.
As wise as an owl He’s on cloud 9

4 Have you ever heard anyone say this before?
I can read you like a book! You’re a firework! What a couch potato! As brave as a lion

5 There are many different types of figurative language
There are many different types of figurative language. Today we’ll talk about two types. Similes Metaphors Eat like a pig You’re an angel

6 Similes Similes compare two things using the words “like” or “as.” Sometimes they make sense, sometimes they can be tricky. I have been working like a dog! As white as snow As light as a feather Fight like cats and dogs Free as a bird

7 The highway was a parking lot.
Metaphors Metaphors compare two things by saying one thing is another thing. Metaphors do NOT use “like” or “as.” The cat is a shadow. My brother is a chicken. My teacher is a dragon. The highway was a parking lot.
