7 Key Priority 2 Identify and link existing structures and initiatives that support professional development for mathematics teachers Structures, initiatives and issues include Leading practice: ASTs, Consultants, SSAT Leading practitioners, Leading teachers, subject learning coaches, family numeracy, training schools Leadership: Head Teachers / principals / skills for life coordinators who take the lead in promoting mathematics PD Regional initiatives: Strategies, Maths4Life, SSAT, Professional Associations, STEM, improving learning in mathematics, HEIs Transfer: Primary  secondary  FE (including WBL)  HE Sharing: 14 to 19  adult and community education Exemplification KP2 Bedfordshire Schools Improvement Partnership

9 Key Priority 4 Support networking and collaboration between Local Authorities and other regional players in strengthening mathematics teaching and learning Identify where LAs have networked and shared their mathematics expertise Gather evidence of the benefits of this collaboration Sharing of the evidence Exemplification KP4 Association of London Maths Networks WM LA information and links

10 Discussion Task In groups, agree to work on one of the 4 Key Priorities. For this Key Priority discuss and share your thinking on these questions: Can you give an example of good practice that needs to be shared? Why does it work? What are the challenges? How can you formalise this idea to be shared by others? Write down your ideas on the large A3 sheets
