Course Goal The goal of this course is to provide you with the knowledge and information regarding the new features and functions of Banner Human Resources 8.0. Before we begin today’s event, let me familiarize everyone with the interface. ‘Organizational Hierarchy’
Organization Access ‘Organizational Hierarchy’ FLAC uses budget organization defined on Positions (NBAPBUD) Predecessors and subordinates Set up on FTMORGN or PTVORGN Example: 001 Office of the President 100 Office of the Provost 110 College of Arts & Sciences 111 Dean of Arts & Sciences Specified on NSASPSC Back to Barbara: Salary Planner is based on the budget organization code defined on the Salary Budget window of NBAPBUD. It does not use the ‘Home Org’ or ‘Timesheet Org’ defined on PEAEMPL or NBAJOBS, respectively. You’ve probably been wondering when we would start using that field for something. A predecessor would be the organization another department would roll up to, or report to. The subordinate would be that department under another’s budget control. If SCT Banner Finance is installed, the hierarchy is set up on FTMORGN by defining a ‘predecessor’ organization for each organization created, if applicable. If SCT Banner Finance is not installed, then this hierarchy may be set up on the PTVORGN form in SCT Banner HR, also by defining a ‘predecessor’ organization for each organization created, if applicable. In our example here, we have 4 levels (8 levels are actually available) with 111 having 110 as it’s predecessor, etc. Also notice that because each level has a predecessor that is also a subordinate, organization 001 would have all the subordinate organizations in it’s hierarchy. In Salary Planner selecting organization 001, and including it’s subordinates would provide you with information on 001 as well as each of the lower organizations (100, 110, 111), provided you had the security access set up to those organizations.
