Copy down and suggest how top down and bottom up schemes work to break the cycle The Poverty Cycle Low economic output and no community amenities No savings or investments by people Low level of consumer demand for services Low Income and wellbeing for people and country No money to develop infrastructure, services or industry Little investment in industry or services

Task 1 Split into 2 groups Group 1) Focus on Micro-hydro schemes in Peru Group 2) Focus on implementing biogas in India Each group to produce a presentation and poster on their scheme to include: Simplified map Introduce the scheme –what are the aims, how does it work? Using the map and atlas describe the location and characteristics of the Maderia Dam What are the benefits of involving the local people and communtiies in the decision making process Benefits – social, economic and environmental Negatives - social, economic and environmental

Group Presentation Market Place activity
Choose one of the bottom up schemes and produce a case study card for it using the pro-forma provided

Intermediate Technology
A technology that the local people is able to use relatively easily and without much cost - For your chosen scheme outline how it is an example of intermediate technology
