Macbeth Pictures of Relevant Places

2 Inverness Castle – where Duncan spent the night with Macbeth – rebuilt in the 1800s. A castle has stood on the land since the 1100s.

3 According to tradition, the castle where Duncan was murdered was torn down in retaliation of Macbeth’s actions and rebuilt later. The current castle is a rebuilding of that castle.

Gatehouse of the castle at Fife, owned by Clan MacDuff. It is called Falkland Castle. It was built in the 1500s.

6 The original MacDuff Castle – seems to have been built sometime before 1300 and used until the castle at Falkland took its place. MacDuff’s descendants lost the castle and title after a war in Scotland – they sided with the losing king. Clan MacDuff has no clan leader right now.
