About the Create PT (Starts today)
You will be creating a program, based on anything that interests you, written in any language you want. You can use Jcreator, App Lab in code.org, or any other language. You will have 7 class days to complete this project, so it should be somewhat sophisticated. (An app that displays your 3 favorite sports would receive a 0, for example.) You will have to submit 3 things: Your code A 1-minute video of your program running Written responses You can work with a partner, if you wish; however: Each must submit their own video and written responses Each must write an equal amount of code Students did fail this project last year when one partner wrote most of the code

The Create PT makes up 24% of your grade on the AP Exam, if you choose to take it.
If you take the exam, your two PTs will be graded not by me, but by an AP Grader, on a scale of 0-8. If you take the exam, YOU are responsible for submitting all parts of the two PTs to Digital Portfolio by April 30. I will also be grading the two PTs towards your grade in this class. My grade may end up being different than the one you get from the AP Grader. I am not allowed to help you with any coding issues/questions during this project. This is not my rule, it is the College Board’s rule.

When you are done with this PT, you must (not share via OneNote) your 3 files to me, all in the same . The 3 files are: Your code, in PDF format. (If using Java, copy code to Word, save as PDF. If using App Lab, use the “print screen” button to save code as images, then paste into Word, save as PDF). Name the file: LASTNAME_CREATE_CODE Your written responses, in PDF format. Name the file: LASTNAME_CREATE_RESPONSES Your video. Name the file: LASTNAME_ CREATE_VIDEO

Go to Digital Portfolio (link) and do the following:
Go to the Quinn folder (Unit 6) and copy ScreencastOMatic to your Temporary Local Storage. Try installing it. You will use this to record your videos. (Reminder: Videos must not exceed 30 MB, or 60 seconds!) Go to Digital Portfolio (link) and do the following: Login with your College Board account. If necessary, create an account. Click Add Classes Find your block, then click enroll (Now, I have to approve you) Go to the Quinn folder and open “Assessment Overview and PT Directions for Students” and read pages 9 to 13 (as labeled on the document). Make sure to read all of the requirements. Go to the Quinn folder and open “Create PT 2018 Scoring Guidelines and Notes.” This document is very important! Your grade in this class, as well as on the AP Exam, will be based on this rubric. Go to AP Central’s page about the exam (link). Scroll down to the table with sample responses; we will look at some of them. By reading the “commentary” document, you can see exactly how these responses were graded. If you want to use App Lab for this PT, go to Code.org, click Projects, then App Lab, then New Project.
