Romeo and Juliet reading 1 Date:
Objectives Convey reading plan and start reading Act One. Answer questions for the purpose of a closer reading for the Junior Cert. Warm –up – A4 pad (to be put into folder) “A pair of star-crossed lovers”, “death-marked love”, “naught could remove”. Write down the above quotes and answer this question. Does knowing the end of a story before you read it effect how you feel about the story? Why?

Reading Plan 5 Acts – average 5 scenes – average 5 pages a scene. Aim to read 7-8 pages a day – complete 7-8 weeks. Warm-up – Notes -Read 7-8 pages - notes– questions. Important note: Oral exam includes reading aloud – practise that during these readings.

Suggests what happens to Romeo and Juliet is inevitable – key theme ‘fate’. Unhappy ending makes this a ‘tragedy’. (Interesting fact: A chorus is a single actor) Take this note time to get volunteers for readings.
